What is web design?
This is graphic design transferred to an interactive environment. In it essence, it’s most close to printing art. But! Even though these styles of graphic design visually do have something in common, the technologies of their creation are as different as two different universes. And this is understandable, since the specifics of each area of design differ.
What is the purpose of interactive web design?
The main goal of graphic design with the specifics customized for interactive, interface environment is to help users to quickly and intuitively navigate through the site. As any other area of design, it has to comply with the basic design rules in respect of the developed object, in this case, of the interface, that is, make it good-looking, useful, simple, easy to use, etc. When visiting a site, users should, according to the web designer’s concept, find the resource useful in general, and visually pleasant, intelligible and easy to use, in particular. The site’s design should make a favorable impression on the user. It is very important to make users visit the site another time. When developing a site, a web designer strives to adapt the project’s goal to the maximum to the needs of the intended user, that is, make working with the site to the user as simple, friendly, useful and pleasant as possible.
From the marketing point of view, it’s worthwhile remembering that any product in a “marketable state” always has more appeal than a similar product without the right style. This means that graphic design can definitely change the perception of reality, even when the reality remains the same.
Web design, unlike printing art, is not just about the appearance of a product, not an insignificant and auxiliary part of it, but the product itself. When developing a site, a web designer creates a product, rather than “packaging” it. This is why web design has a predominant role in a web project, and a web designer acts as the author of the product. This means that web design is the core essence of Internet projects and, consequently, the essence of Internet itself.
Most of the sites are developed for visitors and only for them (with the exception of personal projects that are developed to the owner’s taste).
A site should be close and intelligible to the user, and commensurate with the user. And it must have visual appeal. And, as far as possible, it should be unusual, intriguing and enigmatic. It is well known that people like to get unexpected good impressions and experiences.
Ideally, a web designer strives to guess the requirements of a specific group of users that will definitely visit the site due to the site’s specifics.
A visit to the site should become a memorable event for the user!
